Dear Family,

As for today I’m going to try and be somehow fast. I’m going to try and print off the ordinance request forms for G-pa Holder today but I have to go into the family history website. Last week was interesting. Our combined meeting was good and pres. did a more in depth plan of salvation lesson then he has before. A lot of it was familiar but then some of it wasn’t. It’s kind of interesting of just having thoughts or things you learned in study and then having someone else say it. Just like a confirmation of what we learned. We then just kind of moseyed the rest of the week. We went on splits with some other elders on Friday and I think it was needed. For both them and us. They were just kind of having some companionship problems and we kind of were too. But things seem to be resolved now. That was a fun night though. That day was like perfect missionary work. We worked but had fun doing it. It was the first time I had felt uplifted from lessons and it actually made me want to improve. Just a testimony of what having the right companion, living the gospel, and having happiness can do for you. We did a service project on Saturday. It wasn’t really put together well but we got a lot done. We cleaned out a small river of water and dug a deeper gutter so when it rained it wouldn’t flood.Sunday was alright and now we’re here. As for your experience with sister winters that is sweet. Sometimes I feel like missionaries don’t spend enough time teaching that God does love the people we’re among. I don’t think some even understand that really. I remember having this thought when talking to a really stubborn guy on the street. It was like you know God created the whole universe. He has all power, all knowledge, and is the greatest being involved in our existence. Do you really think he needs you? Honestly, God doesn’t need us. But with all that in mind he still wants you. That’s how important we are to him. So you God doesn’t need you to come to church but he sure does want you to. I think its like that for many things. We have a mission conference this Wednesday and it will be the beginning of the end. Let me lay it out for ya. Two weeks later a pretty good sized group leaves. Some heavy hitters is what I like to call them. Then another good sized group leaves. Then a bigger group of just experience. And then wouldn’t you know it, My Gosh dang group is going home. We’re a big group too. By the end of this year this mission will be completely changed. It’s awesome but this conference will probably be the last time we see a lot of guys on mission. It’s weird to think about. Then as for water it ran out again. They’re bringing a water truck and we’re working with the water company trying to get it figured out. but that’s all the news I have for ya. Talk to ya’ll next week. ” Be strong and of good courage. Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord thy God is with thee, whithersoever thou goest” Josh. 1:9
Anyways talk to ya next week.

Dear Family,

This last week was….slow. That’s pretty much all I need to say about that. We are working on getting some new people to teach and it’s been hard to catch them at their houses. and or shops. We have a few people I’m hopeful for. One sister esther. She was coming before but stopped when she had a baby and it’s only been a month since and she started coming again. sort of. She missed yesterday but I think she’ll come along. We got some referrals from the ward yesterday but I’m a bit reluctant to follow up. Most of the referrals we get aren’t either serious or ever home. Some of them have been given before and it was impossible to meet them. We should be having a service project on saturday which is something I need I think. I need some things to break up the next few weeks until transfer. Tomorrow is a combined District this thing and pres. coming to answer questions and stuff. Soo funny story. I was talking to a member who teaches smaaaaall children. “Do you use the cane on them when they misbehave?” and she was like no they’re too small she uses her finger. So I said “If it was me I would take belt and do it” and she said “oh no, no, no, you don’t need to use a belt, that’s what a cane is for”. So caning is an act of mercy. Interesting thought huh. It’s also the same member who when I implied that pres. was coming tomorrow to come and send us home for being disobedient and stuff she said ” It is never true. Only those who aren’t faithful get sent home, and you can tell the ones who are and aren’t faithful.” I felt special and loved for that moment and then we continued on our way. If today is anything to go off I’m starting to be a bit more proactive again. I cleaned our nasty bathroom that had mold growing finally. It doesn’t look perfect but it does look better. Then I cleaned the kitchen before we left for here. While there were 6 other missionaries chilling in the apartment talking. I got something done. There’s a problem with our water right now so we’ve been having to conserve and I think we’re actually doing a pretty good job. that reminds me that I need to call the water company today and see what’s going on.Ya so I don’t actually have that much to say sooo. I’ll leave with something I wrote last year august talking about mission. “Mission is hard. My back’s sore, I’m sick, and tired everyday and just challenging me. But there’s no other place I’d rather be.” So I know I write you guys about all the hard stuff but hey I know why I’m here so don’t worry about a thing. Because every little thing is gonna be alright. Much loves,
From The is am bestest

Dear Family,

So I don’t like reading your letters where you just tell me I’ve been a depressed little kid for the past 6 months. It makes me feel sad and depressed. Well I just finished the updates you sent me and well freakin’ ya!!! Justen will be around when I get back. As for now I just helped my companion figure out his email address. The problem was that he was unable to get into his email. Before he didn’t even know you could email people outside of myldsmail. Soo he wasn’t. I don’t think that will be a problem anymore. Things around are stable… I’ll say I’m fine in the apartment and just around chilling but when it comes to work with my companion I don’t do so well. I’ll admit we just haven’t clicked as well as some of my companions. I know I’m a part of the problem it’s not just him but well ya. Maybe when I come home (in 5 months) I’ll tell you guys whatever was going on.As for this past week it was pretty dead. People failing constantly and we dropped someone. We need to pick up a few. Even though it’s a ton easier I have not been as a good of DL. It’s not that I’m not doing what I’m supposed to I’m just not as proactive as I used to be. You can tell because the apartment isn’t as clean as it used to be. I’m not coordinating as many fun activities or at least trying to get them to come on. Just I got lazy for whatever reason so now I’m trying to get back to being proactive. Elder Moffitt, the new missionary in the apartment, is well he’s new. It’s kind of cool just to see how we all started out when we came. I remember having the same attitudes that he does and now I’m just awesome. Today we went to a cocoa factory which was pretty cool. If you look at the capecoast blog you’ll probably see us on it. So for the last few weeks I’ve been studying the word remember in the book of mormon. so far I’ve found it about 150 times. I’m only about 3rd nephi. It’s been interesting on the things we’re supposed to remember. When I finish I send a definite number to you. well not too much to talk about now. I’ll admit I am waiting for the next transfer but ok no buts. I need a change. Things’ll get better one way or another. Smell ya later.

Your beloved son,

Dear Family,

So ya um this week has been fun. Well given your response I hope you guys didn’t actually tell pres. That usually comes back to me in a somehow negative way. It’s good you guys have been busy and stuff. My busyness has gone down quite a bit since the district got split. Only three companionships, one district with two slow areas and one just starting. Could have taken a little too much responsibility but oh well. This past week was just getting back on my feet. Then the other guys in our apartment got whitewashed so we took a day or so to kind of get them settled in, show them their area and stuff. I’m sooooo glad that today is sub day so I can buy cereal again. I have been missing my corn flakes for awhile now. I need more. Also I want to buy more fruit than I have been just to add a little bit variety to my rice and stew diet. Or gari soakings. or rice and stew again. Well I’m happy that Patrick was finally baptized and he’s doing well. I’m not sure about the other people in our area. There’s quite a few that I see, since I’m now so experienced a missionary with only 5 months to go jk, that have potential. Some real spirit inviting lessons and just a bit of prayer and luck and they could come but also it will take work. I haven’t been able to get us to work harder yet. I did a lesson a few weeks ago on making miracles happen. And well for the most you usually have to do more with lots of faith and in my companionship we’re doing work anyhow. We can be doing better but we’re not. So I’m not expecting too much to happen in kojokrom. I did have a cool sacrament meeting though. The past week I’ve just been kind of ornery. I think that’s a word? Then the bishopric asked me to give the opening prayer and so I would sit at the stand. Sitting there looking at the people as they came in and watching them throughout sacrament it was like “I love these people” Even as the sacrament came I just felt comfort so it was nice to kind of cancel out my orneriness. That word does not look right to me so I hope you  understand what it’s supposed to mean. cranky I guess. there we go maybe that helps. Alright and the other two guys in our apartment is E. kitchen from Utah. He’s got 3 months to go home. He’s funny and I we talk about whatever which helps. And E. Moffet who he’s training. That kid isn’t going to be home until 2015. Can you believe that? That’s far O. He’s also from utah but he’s cool. He’s just getting used to everything. Um… ya I do know E. Mthalane. He was in my district a little while ago. Even he’s training now in Elmina.  He seemed cool. He was always smiling when I saw him so. As for water it’s no problem we just call and get a water truck so that we can fill up our tanks to go do those silly unimportant things like drinking, bathing, and washing. We do have to go talk to the water company though. Our city line hasn’t been working for two weeks now. We’ll figrue it out. Anywyas I need to email one or two more people ad my time is almost up sorry. Pics take a chunk of time. Love ya, Peace out. Until next week,
Sincerely,
Your best,
Elder Holder
